When I first learned about genetics by going for a genetic test, I was blown away. As the practitioner explained my genetic risks and predispositions to me, she was amazed that I was already doing all the recommendations she was giving me.

I didn’t know at the time that the dietary, lifestyle and environmental changes I had made over past decade to optimize my health were in effect epigentic factors that were contributing to the favorable expression of my genes. Seeing the connection between my genes and these epigenetic factors made me even more determined to stick to the healthy changes I had made and continue to learn how to do so even more.

It was shortly after that, that I studied in nutrigenetics and became an accredited practitioner in introductory nutrigenomics, nutrigenetics and pharmacogenomics.  (This is not to be confused with a geneticist. )

Together with my training as an accredited nutritional health coach, this field opens up a way to help my clients use modifiable epigentic factors such as diet, lifestyle and environment to optimise healthy gene expression. Since there is nothing medical involved, there is no treatment, curing or diagnosing taking place.

Nutrigenetics is the study of how genes affect an individuals response to nutrients and how personalized dietary recommendations based on an individual’s genetic profile can optimize health and prevent disease.

 

 

It is my goal to continue to research and learn as much as I can so that I can effectively improve my own health, but also be in a position to better help my clients through nutritional coaching learn how to optimise their health through non-medical means by gaining an understanding of their genetic risks and predispositions and thus learn how to improve their gene expression.

This “course” is essentially a way for me to have all my information together in one place, away from BOTS and people who copy and misuse information for their own benefit. A lot of time and energy goes into researching, studying and putting together informative articles, which I feel are best served to others who are willing to pay for this service and thus benefit themselves and cover my hard work.
